„Ageing with robots „

Elderly with care needs mostly live self-depended in the home environment. Assistive robots are more and more able to support and to reduce care decency. In home environment the adaptivity and flexibility of the robotic system and behaviour is crucial. However, the aged people themselves must have the option to customize the robot to meet their needs and avoid a situation where they feel to be dominated by the system.


How can elderly without IT-knowledge interact with robots in order to customize the system and behaviour?

Actual Challenge

Use state-of-the-art technology, humanoid robot (PEPPER – Softbank Robotics), to overcome this problem. On what basis could elderly interact with the robot (voice, touch/tactile ore via graphical display)?
How can the initiated process be adapted or new process be created? How could trust in the controllability of the robotic system be established?
